Marking their return to action three…

Van de Beek expecting ´to learn a lot´ from Lampard after swapping Man Utd for Everton

Donny van de Beek is expecting to learn a lot from new Everton boss Frank Lampard after completing a loan switch to Goodison Park from Manchester United.

The Netherlands international has been given an opportunity to kick-start his career with Everton in the second half of 2021-22 following a frustrating time at United.

Van de Beek failed to start a single Premier League game for the Red Devils this term and has started just 19 games in all competitions since joining from Ajax in September 2020.

To put that into context, 19 others have started more games for United over that period, with Bruno Fernandes leading the way (76).

Indeed, only once has Van de Beek started back-to-back games for the Red Devils in all competitions – against Istanbul Basaksehir …

Bayern Munich part ways with Kovac after Eintracht Frankfurt thrashing

Niko Kovac has departed Bayern Munich after a 5-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt left the champions fourth in the Bundesliga table.

Pressure has been growing on Kovac all season despite the Croatian leading Bayern to the Bundesliga title and a DFB-Pokal triumph in his first year in charge.

Saturday s trip to Frankfurt saw Bayern beaten 5-1 by Kovac s old club, who he led to DFB-Pokal glory in 2017-18 before moving to Bavaria.

Bayern failed to keep a clean sheet in any of Kovac s last eight games in all competitions and they needed a late comeback to win at second-tier side Bochum in the DFB-Pokal in midweek.

Despite Kovac leading Bayern to three wins out of three in the Champions League, the Bundesliga champions have now opted for a change of coach.

Negredo hails Pellegrini honesty

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo believes Manuel Pellegrini s honesty is hugely beneficial to the club s dressing room.

Negredo has benefited from Pellegrini s tough love previously, when the manager sold him from Real Madrid to Sevilla in 2009.

Pellegrini s arrival in the Spanish capital coincided with Negredo s return from Almeria, with Real taking advantage of a buy-back clause after his impressive form.

Negredo was not in Pellegrini s first-team plans though, and the Chilean quickly advised him to move on something he did to great effect with Sevilla.

That straight-talking was appreciated by Negredo, who was persuaded to join free-scoring City by Pellegrini in July.

Madrid had exercised the option to buy me back from Almeria (in 2009), said Negred…
